The assignment involves developing a program of works for biodiversity offsets and the permanent protection of the Upper Tina River catchment. This includes setting up and implementing biodiversity offsets, initial management and monitoring, supporting community-based conservation, legal compliance with the Protected Area Act, capacity building, and establishing governance frameworks for long-term protection. The consultant firm will engage with landowning communities to advance the Protected Area declaration process, ensuring that conservation efforts respect customary land rights and integrate sustainable livelihood options. The overall objective is to operationalize and monitor a legally compliant and financially sustainable biodiversity conservation program that achieves no net loss of natural habitat and net gain of critical habitat.
